September and October Prayer Letter 2012

Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,

Furlough:

Image

As of this December, we will have been in Chile for 4 ½ years. We have had the privilege of starting Iglesia Bautista Amistad as well as seeing God do a great work in the lives of many people. We have seen people saved, seen the saints of God grow in His wisdom and are looking forward to seeing what God is going to do in the future with this church and His people. After furlough, we will continue working in this church with plans of actually buying a building and helping this church to grow in number and in strength. Along with this work, be in prayer with us as we plan on starting another work out of Iglesia Bautista Amistad. There are more places than we can count that need a fundamental Baptist church in the country of Chile, South America.

That being said: Our family will be coming back to the States for a time of furlough. We will be reporting to our supporting churches, spending some time with our family and getting into some new churches as well.

For our supporting churches: We will be booking meetings starting in the month of January and going up to the month of September. Pastors: During this time, if you would like for us to come by and share what has been going on in the ministry in Chile and give a report: Send me an email at, chrismcbryar@mwbm.org and let me know when would be a good time for us to visit you and your church. We are so thankful for how faithful each one of you have been: supporting us through your prayer and financial support. We look forward to seeing many of our brothers and sisters in Christ that we had met on deputation.

Thank you for the extra:

In our May and June prayer letter, we had mentioned the need of school curriculum and passports. There was the cost of the school curriculum and shipping of it for around $900.00 and passports at the cost of $315.00. We want to personally thank each and every church and person that gave extra for these needs. It was truly a blessing and help to us in a tremendous way!

–Pray with us as we get prepared for this coming furlough!–

Thank you and God Bless,

Chris and Stephanie McBryar

July and August Prayer Letter

Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,

July and August 2012

New Visitors:

We praise the Lord for some new visitors that have been coming lately. It’s not always easy to get people in the church for a first time visit, but we sure are thankful for when they come. We have had two teenagers that have started coming on Sunday mornings, one of which used to be our neighbor. Something else that I had learned from my daughter Delaney is that they had never even held a Bible before their first visit to our church. Pray with us for these two teenagers about salvation and becoming a part of Iglesia Bautista Amistad. Also pray with us for the rest of the people that we need to reach around our church. There are plenty of people with religion, but not many with a personal relationship with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Constituting Iglesia Bautista Amistad (Friendship Baptist Church):

In the month of August we will constitute Iglesia Bautista Amistad. By this time the church will be 1 year and 10 months old. We have been considering doing this for quite some time and believe it is time to move the church forward and do as much as we can to strengthen and establish the work going on in this area. We have seen people come to trust Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour and we have seen many grow spiritually in the Word of God. We look forward to seeing this work mature and be a light to this part of Santiago, Chile. Pray with us as this church continues to grow stronger and do the will of God to reach Chile and the world for Christ.

Prayer:

As missionaries serving on the foreign mission field we are always grateful for every type of support we get from our supporting churches in the States. We are thankful for financial support and for prayer support because both are needed. Also, as a missionary I personally pray for all of our supporting churches and that God will bless them and what they are doing for the Lord. I also would like to share this bit of information with you at this time. One Wednesday night this month as a church (Iglesia Bautista Amistad), we met 30 minutes before the service for a special time of prayer to ask God to help us to be a better and stronger church and to pray that God would bless the work that is going on here. I just wanted to let you know as one of our men was leading our prayer service, he specifically mentioned about God blessing the churches in the United States that are helping this work. Not only am I very grateful for how you are helping this work, but the people here, are as well! Iglesia Bautista Amistad thanks you for your prayer and your financial support.

Thank you and God bless,

Chris and Stephanie McBryar

May and June 2012

Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,

May and June 2012

Baptism:

I had the opportunity and privilege of doing another baptism this past month. The Word of God tells us in, “Matthew 28:19-20 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” It is a blessing to be able to fulfill the great commission and it is also a great blessing to see God’s children follow in believer’s baptism. Continue to pray for the people of Iglesia Bautista Amistad as they continue to grow spiritually and follow what God’s Word says.

Anniversary:

This year marks a very important time for Stephanie and I. May 30th will be our 20 year anniversary. We praise the Lord for our marriage and all that He has allowed us to do. First of all, I would like to thank my wife for sharing the Gospel with me. It was through her witnessing that I came to know the Lord. The Lord has allowed us to grow together as husband and wife and also to grow together in the Lord. We can truly say that the Lord has made all the difference in our lives. We look forward to growing more in God’s Word, as well as seeing our love grow more and more down through the years. “Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” “Matthew 19:5-6 5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

School curriculum and passports:

Another year has passed and it’s time to order school curriculum for the kids. I would ask that you pray with us concerning the cost and shipping of these items. Between the different subjects and having it all sent: it will cost in the neighborhood of around $900.00. We also have to renew the kids’ passports at $105.00 a piece for a total of $315.00. Thank you for considering these needs in our family. Also, we must say that we are very thankful to each one of you that gives sacrificially to the ministry here in Chile as well as to our family.

Thank You and God Bless,

Chris and Stephanie McBryar

March and April Prayer Letter

Dear Pastor and Praying Friends,

March and April 2012

 Visitation:

In February and March, we have begun a big push on visitation. We praise the Lord for each person that is helping with the folding of the letters and the stuffing of envelopes. In the past few weeks, we have given out around 1200 envelopes or more to those around the church. Each envelope contains a personal invitation letter from the church, an information pamphlet about the Church; which includes what we believe as a church, a Gospel tract and information of a good Christian radio station here in Chile (BBN). Pray with us that we will see great results and much fruit from this time of canvassing the area.

Kid’s Sunday School Class:

I am very thankful for Stephanie, Delaney and a lady named Cintia that are working with the kids for Sunday school. They are doing a great job teaching them about the Word of God and giving them principles that will help the rest of their lives. Matthew 19:14 “But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” Pray for these children as they are taught the Word of God. It is through the Word of God that they will be saved and given the best direction a person can have for their life. Also, we must give a big thank you to BEAMS. They have been faithfully providing the Word of God to Iglesia Bautista Amistad since our very first service. Thank you BEAMS for your faithfulness in this ministry.

Camp:

At the end of every January, about 6 different churches have a camp that is geared towards young people from 12 to 18 years old. It is a week full of lessons during the day, where they can do devotions and study the Word of God. At night there is preaching to stir them to devote their lives to their personal Saviour, Jesus Christ. Pray for the youth, that God will get a hold of their lives and do a tremendous work in them spiritually.

January and February Prayer Letter

Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,
January and February 2012

 Christmas service:

We were very fortunate to have a special service on December the 18th for Christmas this year. We had several things planned and quite a few people participating in different areas. There was a group of about 8 young people that came to help out with the music for the day. They were from another Independent Baptist Church about 30 minutes away. They did several Christmas type songs which included singing, playing the piano, guitars and violins. They did a great job and really went above and beyond with their service to the Lord. Along with them, Stephanie and Delaney sang a song and also, the children in Stephanie’s Sunday school class did several songs with bells and sang as well. After the singing, I had the opportunity to preach on “Mary’s Discoveries”. Mary discovered that God’s plans are eternal and that God’s plans never fail. We are so thankful for what God has done for us through His only begotten Son. After the service, we had a great time of fellowship and food. We were blessed to have 52 people in attendance for that day.

New Years:

We are looking forward to this coming year and what we can do here at Iglesia Bautista Amistad. We are currently working on plans of reaching out even more to the people around our church. We have a group of people that are attending faithfully. We are going to take specific people within this group and have them responsible for certain areas close to the church. We will be canvassing these areas. After that, we will follow up as we see the people responding to the invitations and the information that we leave with them. Pray for us as we continuing reaching out.

Blessings:

We are so thankful for what each and every one of you has done for our family this year and especially for this time around Christmas. We cannot thank you enough for the extra funds that you gave to our family in December.

Sincerely Yours In Christ,

Chris and Stephanie McBryar

November and December Prayer Letter 2011

Independence Day:

September the 18th is Independence Day for Chile. Chile celebrates this day as the day that they won their freedom from Spain. Any country that has freedom, at some point and time had to battle another country in order to have that freedom. We are very thankful that we are missionaries to a country that has the freedom to worship our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. On this day, I had an opportunity to preach about “The Freedom that we have, when we believe.” As children of God, we have been freed from the penalty of sin and the power that sin has over our lives. Pray for the country of Chile as we reach out to the people and share with them the only person that can give them true freedom in their lives.

The first group picture on the far right is from 10-24-2010 and the second one from 10-23-2011.

Anniversary:

October the 24th, 2010 we had our first service at Iglesia Bautista Amistad (Friendship Baptist Church). This year on October the 23rd we celebrated our one year anniversary. We are so thankful that God has allowed us this privilege to share God’s Word with the people that live around the church. We have seen people saved and lives changed for the glory of God. We were very grateful that we had right at 50 people in attendance for this day. We are also looking forward to what God is going to do in the future with this church and the people that make up the church. Continue to pray for the people in Chile and their relationship with God.

Sincerely Yours In Christ,

Chris and Stephanie McBryar

September and October 2011

Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,                            September and October 2011

Answer to Prayer:

In our last prayer letter we had mentioned the need for our children’s school curriculum. As I was saying in the last letter, finances are pretty tight here as it is in most places. The cost for the curriculum was around $700.00. We have to say that God really answered
prayer. We have had several people and churches that responded to this need. We
praise the Lord that He has gone above and beyond with His provision. Through
the Lord’s people, this need has been more than met. Also, during this time we
have had to move and this has been quite expensive. The Lord knew we would need
the extra to help pay for the expenses of moving. We want to thank each one of
you that took part in this blessing. You were truly a blessing to our family!

Youth:

Every year there is a special youth get together to try and encourage the young people to grow spiritually and really live their lives for God. This year we had a great turnout with 6 churches participating. We had quite a few people who attended from Iglesia Bautista Amistad (Friendship Baptist Church). Pray with us concerning the youth and the adults as well that went to hear multiple messages concerning their walk with God.

Families:

Be in prayer for the families in the church. We know that the family is important to God. The husband, wife and the kids are all important and each one has their part in the work of the Lord. Pray for these families to have strong Christian homes that will make a difference to others in their families, their neighbors and the world.

Sincerely Yours In Christ,

 Chris and Stephanie McBryar

July and August Prayer Letter

Dear Pastor and Praying Friends, July and August 2011

Mother’s Day:
We praise the Lord for mothers. We had a great service this past Mother’s Day. It was a joy to see the number of mothers in church. I preached a message about Moses’ mother, Jochebed. It’s amazing what examples we find in the Bible that we can apply to our lives and improve our spiritual walk. I am so thankful to all you mothers and what you do to bring glory to our Saviour.

Sunday School Class:
Stephanie’s Sunday school class is doing well. She is having more kids coming faithfully. Pray for them as they learn about God’s Word at such an early age. We are looking forward to what God is going to do with these children in the future. The sooner someone learns of God and He becomes a part of their life, the better they will be.

School Curriculum:
We would like to ask for your prayers concerning school curriculum for our kids this year. Recently, our financial circumstances have not been good. The exchange rate for the dollar has taken an extreme turn for the worse over the past several months. We have probably lost about 10% of our support because of the exchange. This along with other things has made finances here pretty difficult. The cost for school curriculum will be about $700.00 for our children this year. We would really appreciate your prayers concerning this situation. We thank you so much for all you do for our family.

Sincerely Yours In Christ,

Chris and Stephanie McBryar
